Resumen
Bronchial asthma is a disease characterized by bronchoconstriction due to the contraction of bronchial musculature and inflammation of the bronchial mucosa, and has reversibility in a spontaneous manner or with pharmacological treatment. One of the complementary methods used for the diagnosis of this disease is the bronchoprovocation test, specially the methacoline test, which is the most used worldwide. This report analyzes the targets and limitations of this test for the diagnosis of bronchial asthma. Indications, contraindications, procedures and interpretation are discussed.
