Resumen
The correlation between malocclusion and body posture generates debate among different authors, even obtaining opposing results, opening a wide range of investigations. The main objective of the present study is to detail the relationship between the factors involved in the so-called postural syndromes, descending and ascending. The analysis of digital resources from 2017 to 2022 was carried out using the following databases: Sciencedirect, Pudmed, Scielo, Elsevier, Proquest, Scopus, Doaj, Springer and Google Scholar. The results indicate that the postural investigation that relates malocclusions cannot be isolated from other anatomical structures of the stomatognathic apparatus, since each part of the system is correlated. Thus, the TMJ, the musculature or the respiratory function can generate alterations that affect both occlusion and posture, but this does not mean that a posture determines the type of occlusion or that an occlusion predisposes the posture, since there are various factors involved.
