Resumen
In the present study, the Multidimensional Ethics Scale (MES-30) was adapted to Spanish and its factor structure was evaluated. A total of 594 employees, aged between 22 and 71, predominantly residing in Ecuador participated in the study. The results of the Confirmatory Factor Analysis showed that the bifactor model had a significantly better fit than the other two models tested: (a) five correlated factors (one for each philosophical orientation), and (b) unidimensional. The overall factor of the bifactor model explained 86% of the common variance, and 93% when controlling for the other factors. In addition, the percentage of uncontaminated correlations was 80%. This, added to what was observed when analyzing factor loadings, allowed us to conclude that the adaptation of the MES-30 into Spanish carried out in this study presents essential unidimensionality. The authors discuss both academic and practical implications of the study.
