Resumen

The purpose of the article is to examine the theory of human capital and sustainability, the former being the central actor of the latter, observing an effective support relationship to the strategic direction of business development. The methodology is based on the analysis of high-impact indexed database research articles such as Scopus and Web of Science, structuring a reflection of the conceptual work of sustainability in administration and management theories, with a focus on elucidation through of relational comparison. It stands out in the results that beyond the analysis of the specific competencies of the collaborators, it is necessary to develop a comprehensive understanding of sustainability. Therefore, close cooperation is required between the collaborators, the training management and the management of all areas and functions of the company. To achieve sustainability, companies absolutely depend on the support of their collaborators. The different management levels and the training plans that are developed in companies are key in the development and implementation of a sustainability strategy.
