Abstract

Solid wastes generated from food industries are the major contributor in environmental pollution and cereal generated post harvested waste are prominent in nature which contributed significantly solid waste pollution. Rice crops produced huge number of solid waste during post harvesting stage in which rick husk (RH) is one of the major generated waste. The present work is based on presenting valorization of rice husk (RH) as carbon source to produce microbial cellulase under solid state fermentation (SSF). The microbe from expired probiotic juice of yeast Saccharomyces Boulardi (SB) has been selected for the cellulolytic enzyme production under SSF mode. Further, different physicochemical factors such as substrate, temperature, pH and nitrogen sources have been investigated to receive the optimum enzyme activity. Under optimized condition of 4 g of RH substrate and 1% yeast extract nitrogen source; the raw enzyme produced 2.4 U/L filter paper activities in 24 h of SSF incubation at temperature 32 °C and pH 5.0. This study explored the opportunity of rice crop waste and expired biomedical waste based yeast for production of cellulolytic enzyme cocktail which has diverse industrial applications. Moreover, the results of current study may also find potential in area of solid and biomedical waste management.
