A results comparison of two versions of a self-instructional course from the Open Campus platform of the 'Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja'

Abstract

This investigation compares two versions of the UTPL Open Campus six weeks course 'Valorando la educación a distancia'. The purpose of these courses was to cover the main generalities, organization, and the educative process that involves in distance education learning. The course was developed through self-instructional and was designed with gamification activities like quizzes and challenges developed activities with peer review. At the end of the course, the participants completed a survey, which collects their perceptions about the methodology applied and the appreciation of the information and training given during the course. The outcomes of this investigation revealed that a high percentage of the participants consider that this course contributed to their personal development and help them realized the implications of a distance education system.
