Atahualpa, a community located in the province of Santa Elena, was selected as the optimal scenario for the epidemiological study of diseases such as atherosclerosis, cerebrovascular events, cognitive impairment and sleep disorders. This project is a testament to the importance of long-term studies and how the knowledge gained lays a solid foundation for future health research and policy in rural areas. The UEES proudly demonstrates its commitment to scientific research, driving significant advances in community well-being.
